Based on the poem “You Remember Ellen” by the poet Thomas Moore, this two-reeler is a fascinating example of the body of work produced by the Kalem Company over a series of summers in the 1910s. For a number of years a whole cast and crew traveled to Ireland where they filmed short narrative features on Irish subjects with the intention of appealing to Irish and Irish-American audiences back in the United States.
This restoration is based primarily on a 35mm print conserved at the Irish Film Institute, supplemented with frames from a 16mm print conserved at the George Eastman Museum. In accordance with archival restoration ethics, digital intervention was limited to mitigating damage and accumulated wear suffered by the original film materials. This restoration was completed in June 2025 by the San Francisco Film Preserve in collaboration with George Eastman Museum and the Irish Film Institute. This restoration was made possible through the generous support of the Emigrant Support Programme through the Consulate of Ireland.
