In the trenches of WWI, Jack and Danny befriend fierce fighter Fearless the Dog. A stint in a rural idyll in the French countryside brings love in the shape of Fifi and Yvonne, but when the war ends the boys must make tracks back to the USA. Efforts to bring their ladies to New York result in high jinx, as an unknown heiress is in the mix, but never fear, Fearless’ll fix everything!
This restoration of The Love Fighter is based on the combination of two unique sources: a tinted 35mm nitrate print preserved at The Museum of Modern Art and a 16mm print in the collection of Richard M. Roberts. Digital image restoration tools were used to reduce the appearance of physical damage that accumulated over the life of the original materials. The original color tinting has been reproduced and is based on the colors present in the 35mm nitrate print. This restoration was completed in October 2023 by the San Francisco Silent Film Festival.
