We are absolutely delighted to announce that we are restoring Lewis Milestone’s fabulous 1928 feature The Garden of Eden! Starring Corinne Griffith, Louise Dresser, and Maude George as the formidable Madame Bauer, The Garden of Eden features striking sets by William Cameron Menzies (Rebecca, Rosita), whirling cinematography by John Arnold (The Wind, Show People), and a cracking script by frequent Lubitsch collaborator Hanns Kräly (Forbidden Paradise).
We are undertaking this 4K restoration of the film with our great partners at George Eastman Museum and the Library of Congress. Digital restoration support is being provided by The Maltese Film Works. The restoration will result in a brand new 35mm negative for long term preservation of the film, along with a 35mm print and digital copies for distribution far and wide!
