Celebrated pianist Makia Matsumura performs a live, fully improvised score for this special screening of Sessue Hayakawa’s acclaimed 1919 silent film, The Dragon Painter. Long considered lost, The Dragon Painter survives today in a 4K digital restoration by the San Francisco Silent Film Festival, Eye Filmmuseum, and the George Eastman Museum. The restoration features additional, recently discovered footage, and will be screened in full with Makia’s riveting live performance!
