Meet the stars of early cinema at the fourth edition of Queens Brussels Silent Movie Night!
In this upcoming edition, the programme will focus on both male and female cross-dressing in silent film. It will trace the history of cross-dressing in cinema to its theatrical origins, look towards a more genderfluid future, and dive into its different genre conventions.
Queens Brussels’ curator Roxane Baeyens and co-curator Martine Bouw selected the silent movies. Martine Bouw will give an introduction before the screening. She is an access employee at Cinematek. She is also a programmer and researcher at the Nederlands Silent Film Festival (NSFF), Eindhoven. Previously, she worked at Eye Filmmuseum, Amsterdam, as a film collection trainee, digital film registrar, booker, documentalist and digital ingest specialist.
Amandine Nkeshimana will accompany this exquisite selection of silent movies live on the grand piano.
